A Permaculture Playground

This has been the first project I undertook; thus, it holds a great significance for me: red clay, over-exhausted soil devoid of nutrients and prone to flooding. A site of experimentation to unveil the different techniques that would succeed in reversing desertification. The aim of the garden was to be both aesthetically pleasing and to provide the family residing it nutrition without chemicals. The garden was transformed during the next year: strong root trees penetrated the soil and different watering systems allowed the roots to go deeper and stabilise it; biodiversity was reinstated in the form of vegetables, wild flowers, native perennials, bees and, finally, mushrooms – flowers of the mycelian web that interconnects all life below the soil.
